simple ignition question

I put a new distributor in my super c last year, remanufactured unit from
all states ag. Well, had am ignition issue on Saturday and I'd like to look
in the distributor because everything else looked good. I took the
distributor cap off and if I remember right the rotor should just slide off
the shaft right? Or am I forgetting something obvious? I see traces of
rust around the shield which is loose behind the rotor, just can't get the
rotor off.

Right, the rotor should just slide off. I can't imagine how it would get jammed on the ditributor shaft, they usually don't fit that tight. Have you tried turning it back and forth a little to see if it is caught on something ? I have had some luck keeping the rust at bay by greasing the distributor shaft. I think it help keep the blowby at bay.

all depends on what distributor you put in. if its the old ih one then the rotor pretty much falls off. i know those old chrysler distributors were sometimes a buggar to pull the rotor off. the massey 44 has this same rotor. they fit pretty tight.

I got it. Took two screwdrivers and popped it off. Im just worried about breaking things. Thanks for the replies.
