I'm going to look at a 574 later this week and the owner says the hydraulics aren't working. I did a search on this forum and read the posts about hydraulic issues and it seems that worn brakes putting metal into the system is the main cause of problems. I stopped by the shop where I get tractor work done and asked their opinion. The owner is a big Farmall/IH guy and he gave me a great run down about what to look for with the hydraulics. His opinion is that if the system is contaminated with metal from the brakes its best to just walk away. He said the metal is almost impossible to flush out and repairs could easily exceed the value of the tractor and even then you could still end up with an uncorrectable issue. I value his input but I'm looking for second opinions. What do y'all think?
Thanks,
Scott
