No s/n tag on seat bracket of super a

I have a Super a that is missing the serial number tag under the seat. The s/n on the engine identifies it as a '49. Is there any way to verify that the tractor actually is a '49, and hasn't had an engine change? Thanks in advance.

Check date codes on various parts. They will be cast in but appear to be a screwed on tag. They will look like (*dd.dd.X*) where the first dd is a number for the month, the second dd is a number for the day of the month, and the X is a letter for the year. The letter "S" was 1949. Find the one on the block (probably near the lower edge, straight down from the engine number). Compare it to codes on other parts. They won't be the same but will probably be reasonably close (most within a couple months). If the engine has been changed, it is likely to be much different.

Thank you I'll do that

Thanks Jim. I checked the numbers, it appears that it IS a '49 all the numbers are all close to what is on the engine. Thanks again
