Best products to use on lock up engine.

Just pick up a nice straight original f14 but the
motor is lock up. All cylinders are clean and rusted
free except for one with minor rust in it. Going to let
it soak for a month or two. Any advice would be
great. If engine breaks free should I replace
anything or trying get it running first and see what
happens??

Get a can of "KROIL" oil and squirt it into the cylinder and let it seep down thru into the ring area. If the head is off and the rod is free from the crank shaft you can apply some force on it with a press. Make sure your pusher on the piston only touches the outter edge of the piston so you don't put a hole in it.

James, Did you get it for less than $850 ? Best I have ever used is 50/50 ATF and Acetone. I no your rears are on steel easyer on rubber, Put it in 3rd gear. After about 3 days rock it back and forth. I put my feet at 3 and 9 o'clock stand right on the spokes and rock it most pop free after about a week or two. If it don't than you best pull the head and see what it looks like inside. oldiron29

Is any of the pistons on tdc if not after using your mixture use a block of wood and a big hammer giving each a good blow this would help the mixture leak down some

Yes ended up getting it for 600 couldn't pass it up for that. Really nice original shape with manuals cultivators belt pulley. Fenders are 100% perfect. Just got to get it freed up n I'll be good to go.

If none of those products work to free the engine. Remove the cylinder head and pour some diesel fuel and some gas on top of the stuck piston and set it on fire. Remove anything flammable. The heat should free it. You may need to remove the oil pan so you use a wooden block and hammer.

You did good at $600 that not bad. What town are you in up there? I keep my eye's open in your area as I have a friend in Angelica and have gotten a lot of tractors out of that area south of Buffalo. Is this your first pre 39 farmall?

At least 50% of the tractor I have picked up over the years had locked up engines. I fill the cylinders with ATF and if they have a vertical exhaust I pour it in till it starts leaking out some place and let ti sit a week plus. Out of more then 20 only 2 or 3 did not free up for me

Hal, About 1 1/2 years ago I had an H could not get it loose, So I put gas in the cylinder and lite it up! 3 times and nothing never had a engine stuck that bad.
I finaly pulled the engine out and pressed the piston out of the sleeves and than pressed the sleeves out and replaced everything. So the heat don't alway work either.

No I couldn't only have 12 other farmalls to play with but I need to add this old steel wheel beauty to the collection. Yes it's my first pre 39 farmall. I live in Eden ny about 1and20 mins away from your buddy.

There are a number of things that work. Some have been stated here Kroil, ATF and Acetone, etc.

The biggest ingredient that has not been stated is PATIENCE.

It didn't get stuck overnight, and for the most part, it won't get un-stuck overnight either. My guess is that engine is dry-stuck, so it shouldn't take too much effort to get her to spin again.

I also talked to the seller, and he said it has been inside his grandmother's barn, and then his shed for at least 30-40 years.

******Very Important!!!******* As David G said GET MAG GROUNDED OR REMOVED FROM TRACTOR you do not want any spark with acetone. it is very flammable!!!!!! In or out you could have a
FIRE !!!!!
