Farmall 350D?

Hello picked up my new Farmall 350D today and need some help. Was running and being used two years ago, stopped running and became hard to start and then unable to be started. Previouse owner removed fuel filters and they were really dirty he said. Filters were discarded so need help with correct filter numbers so I can try getting some at NAPA. Any advice or precautions before trying to start tractor? My plan is to drain all fuel and clean filters and line to the pump, what else should I be doing? Thanks, Mike.

When you have good clean fuel to the injection pump take loose the line nuts at each injector, tap the line to make sure the end has come loose as the line sleeves will be tight. If there's fuel at each injector when cranking engine tighten all lines and start engine. If there's no fuel at each injector when cranking then the injection pump needs repaired as internal parts will be stuck or broken if fuel was rusty or dirty. Just repaired a Farmall 460 pump for the same trouble, it had a seized hydraulic head and broken drive shaft.

napa has the correct filters in their system. use the farmall 350 diesel or gd193 and they will be able to set you up. I changed out mine last year from our local napa

Nice Find !!! Factory wide front to boot !!!

Battery will need to be fully charged as you will be doing a LOT of cranking. ( and probably some charging in between attempts)
1. Start with clean fresh fuel.
Siphon what fuel is currently in the tank out !!!
Replace with at least five gallons of clean fresh fuel after cleaning as much sediment & gunk out of the tank as humanly possible.
2. visually check each fuel line from tank to the pump for evidence of past leaks, or cracks. Check fuel lines from pump to injectors for evidence of part leaks or cracks.
3. To check to make sure you have adequate flow to the primary filter with the top off, the old filter removed , the canister cleaned & element replaced then filled with fresh clean fuel, turn the fuel on at the sediment bowl. Good flow, then shut off the fuel.
3. Once the primary lid is on & tight, remove the lid from the secondary filter, remove element & clean inside of canister, replace element, fill canister with clean fresh fuel, turn the fuel on & then make sure you have adequate flow to the secondary filter ( this will also help bleed any air out of the primary filter).
4.Now you are ready to crack (loosen) the fuel injector lines.
If the pump is working properly, ( and is getting fuel to it) you should seen fuel squirting out of each injector line after a minute or less of cranking the engine over. Loosen each injector line individually while having an assistant continue cranking until you do not see or hear any air coming through the one loosened line.
5.DO NOT keep cranking the engine for over a period of 60 seconds at a time.
6.Continue with each injector at a time until you have the air bled out of the injector lines.

Parts book will give you the correct IH p/n of filters.
(assuming you have the originals on there now)
Primary
Filter element 368278R91 gasket 368282R1
Secondary element
s/n 501 thru 1197 - 367398R91
s/n 1198 & up - 368257R91

The 368278R91 "primary" element looks like a stack of brass plates with holes in them crimped together. That'll be a CIH only item or salvage yard find. The bowl gasket is 368276R1.

In addition to the secondary filters listed above, there's also a "final" filter. It's a large inline filter, 367399R91. I'm pretty sure that hasn't been available from CIH (or maybe even IH before them) for decades. I think there is a filter off of a Case tractor with a Case part number that works, but I don't think CIH will cross to it in their computers.

NAPA says:

primary--368278R91 use NAPA 3102. This is incorrect. According to NAPA, 3102 is almost 4 inches tall and over 3 inches wide. The screen assembly is maybe 1/2 that size.
sec'dy.--367398R91 use NAPA 3101
sec'dy.--368257R91 use NAPA 3102
final--367399R91 no current cross reference. I think NAPA 3191 was the number, but that appears to be discontinued. Wix 33191 may be a possibility for replacement. Double check before ordering. Fleetguard FF117 will work (if the filter hasn't had a design or dimensional change in the last 20 years). My dad's 350D has that one on it.
