Zenith Carb Question for rustyfarmall

Over on the Ford board I was told you would have an answer for me. I have a Ford 3000 with a Zenith Type 67 carb. It has a fixed main jet (#29) and a plug (#27)

The only adjustable main jet I can find (#27A) is a Zenith 71-28 but it isn't listed for my carb. I really need to adjust the main jet on this carb. Will that adjustable main jet fit my carb? If not what do you suggest?

The problem is that it runs fine at low and mid range. But it is lean at higher RPM's, has no pulling power and pops and sputters. You can see the original thread here:

Thanks.

Yes, that adjustable main jet WILL fit your carb, but if you're experiencing starvation problems now, I don't think the adjustable jet will cure it. Also, the Zenith carb with the plug instead of the adjustable jet would be for a tractor that is older than a Ford 3000, and may not be capable of delivering as much fuel as your tractor needs.

You could probably drill out the main jet, and then use the adjustable screw to dial it in, but that might get to be rather involved. Might be better to find a correct carburetor for the 3000.

Thanks for the reply. That is helpful. Yes, I came to the conclusion that the carb was a misfit for this tractor. I'd like to find the original lines and fuel pump for this tractor but that might be a bit of a treasure hunt.

Thanks again.
