I found a little old Hough payloader for sale. From pictures, I"m pretty sure it"s an H25B. It"s not running and the engine is probably stuck. He said that other than that, everything is pretty solid. I haven"t seen it in person, but I asked if he"d take scrap value, which is about $550 where I"m at, and he said he would if I want it. Does this sound like a reasonable deal?

Thanks, Clint.

550/ton will put you at about $1775. Your call. But keep in mind that a scrapyard doesn't come to your yard and pick stuff up. That's the price delivered to their yard. Will he haul it for you? If not, maybe you can chisel him. But with the price of scrap the way it is, its hard to deal on stuff like this. That's why so many mom-n-pop auto yards are going under. You can't get a car for fifty bucks anymore, and the used parts they sold can be had from Auto Zone brand new for the same price.

He didn't say $550/ton. He just said $550 scrap value. How can you know what shape anything is in if it doesn't run so you can try it out? If you need just an engine will cost a few bucks.

Well, as of right now, I'm just going by his word. By saying everything is solid, I pretty much mean that everything is supposed to be there and should be fairly straight forward to get it fixed up. But, I still haven't seen it in person, so it may be worse than I'm expecting. I've never dealt with any payloaders, so I just wanted to see if that price would be reasonable even if it did need plenty of work.

Thanks, Clint.
