the tracks on my excavator are all seized up from not using enough whats the best way to get them loose again any suggestions

| I had good success using the high pressure hot washer,labor intensive but works,blast away at the pin/bush joints from both sides and it gets rid of the rust,once you get it to move rocking to and fro you will soon have them free,tale it easy as you have the track motors and finals under great strain, have the 14 pounder at hand to knock down any that bunch up.

| Wayne is about right. Had a customer that parked is track loader in the pond for about two years because his tracks kept getting stuck and stiff. If you can ever get the excvator moving 10 inches back and forth, you may can work the stiff links into moving but will be hard. Soak in anything you have got to pour on them.

| | About the only way to try, and there are no guarantees, is to keep them soaked in penetrating oil, diesel fuel, etc. Then walk it and hope everything breaks free. The biggest thing determining how easily they free up is how worn the tracks are. The more worn the easier they will free up, but the newer and less worn they are, the worse they will be to get freed up. Got one customer with an old IH track loader in the same shape. In his case the undercarriage was nearly new when he got it, but it had just sat for quite a few years. What I mentioned above is we did to his and we got about 50% of the tightness out of them within a few weeks. The rest all we can do is hope they free up with use. Good luck.
