I have a 1953 Oliver Cletrac Model DDH with a Hercules Engine that while idling after been in use for some time simply died and would not re-start. I believe that there is an issue with the fuel injection pump based on preliminary evaluation. I need to find a source for both information and parts or replacement if necessary for the pump.

Fuel pump is Bosch; fuel seems to be making it through filters with no restrictions, no air and no debris. Removed cover plate from fuel injection pump and rotated shaft with no movement within the pump. When coupler is unbolted from the shaft, shaft to pump easily turns with no resistence and no movement within the pump. Any thoughts at this point? Special procedures for removing fuel pump?

I agree with DGH, but some of those later DD crawlers used a Roosa Master injection pump instead of the Bosch. The priming pumps on those had a habit of sucking air. So how about more details, which injection pump you have and if you have fuel flow to the pump, etc.

I"ll have to confirm the type of fuel pump, but I can tell you we have fuel to the pump and have bled the system, but fuel is not being pushed to the injectors.

When you bleed the system did you see or hear any air coming out?? If you did, then you lost fuel supply to the pump. Crank the engine and crack the lines one at a time at the injectors.
Also look for a cracked fuel line, or a sport were it is rubbing on something where you may have a small hole were air could get sucked in!!

I would be surprized if the injection pump just failed like that. A more likely problem would be lose of fuel supply. Check for fuel from the filters. Could be anything like a plugged filter, water in the tank or crap in the tank blocking the fuel outlet. Has the tractor sat for a while without use?

Good point regarding the filters, I should probably start with those first to see if there are basic issues there. There does seem to be sufficient fuel to the pump, it is just not being pushed to the injectors. The tractor does sit for a good part of the year, but we do fire it up and run it every few weeks; on the day this quit, we had been running it for several hours skidding logs off the hill and while it was sitting idling after we finished, it simply quit.
