if THE FORWARD CLUTCH PAC IS TOAST I feel sorry for you . Years back i got coned into working on a 580 B with the same problem . First off it was no picnic splitting it as i am not set up for working on Ind. When i got it apart and tore down the forward clutch pac was history . Having no contacts other then The Case dealer i am stuck with them . Come to find out that what i need to fix this thing are no longer available from case and had to get a whole unit that WOULD fit with some mods to it for use on a shuttle with out PTO . . And here was the kicker to all this , they did not know what part numbers were they needed to get to put in the PTO unit to plug the thru hole to block the oil flow where the seals went on the Thru PTo shaft as they had to be PLUGGED . .Anyway that unit cost back then over 4300 bucks plus all the rest of the pieces and parts . The guy that owned the machine had almost as much as he paid for it in repairs . I learned one thing , STICK WITH a gear drive as a clutch is a lot less money. |

| sorry you had a bad experiance with one we sold right at one thousand units between 1966 and 1976, all of them with the power shuttle and not one mechanical shuttle, how long ago was this they said they were not available? last one I did was about four years ago had no trouble then getting parts but with Fiat involved I could see things getting only worse,, as to the removing the pto should only have taken a soft plug to plug the hollow shaft front and rear, if you still used the original one, and the power shuttle was a good design as they were usally good for 3000-5000 hrs if used correctly before a rebuild, also after you do the first one they are not really so bad at least to me if I had parts in stock I could do one in a 10-12 hr day complete easy if I ddi brakes at the same time it added 3-4 hrs also cnt |

| It has been ten years since i did that one . And According to Southeast Equipment nothing was available for that ya had to get the whole unit . The soft plugs were not of a std size and i had a machine shop make them . If the parts were available i could have rebuilt it . as for the splitting of it what a pain . I'll stick to splitting wheel tractors , i knew there was a reason that i would not do industrial and trucks. |
