d3 steering clutch

Have a new to me d3 with dry clutches. When you disengage the right one while pushing against a tree it will not reingage when you let the pedal up unless you reverse and reapply forward. It pulls good and spins the tracks both before the clutch is disengaged and after backing up a small amount and going forward again. Wondering what is causing the sticking and slipping while under load but working right unless the clutch is disengaged. The left clutch is working as it should.

Thanks for the reply and answer Bob. I was thinking the same way. I will probably just check and make necessary repairs to both clutches because I have to reline the brakes on both sides anyway. Thanks again.
