I have a late 70's or early 80's model TD 8 Dresser dozer. It has been running great but recently is running with less and less power. The engine sounds strong and does not bog down when we are running uphill, but the dozer is getting slower an slower. Any thoughts?

i HAVE NOT TRIED ANYTHING YET. i HAVE BEEN RUNNING DOWN FILTERS FOR FUEL AND AIR BUT THE ENGINE IS RUNNING GREAT. i WILL CHECK THAT FILTER NEXT. THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTION.

Depending on the year you could have two places to check the transmission.torque convertor oil. Raise the floorboard and if your right foot is on a twist dipstick check the torque convertor foil there however most check at a dip stick under the seat, Low oil will cause the torque to slip also stopped up suction filter. Need to service the unit quick before you do dammage you can.t correct without spending big bucks.

There should be a strainer under the right floorboard. It's similar to an element-type oil filter in appearance.

The transmission filter is on the left side of the machine under your arm. Good luck with that, if I remember right it can be a fun one to get in and sealed. The hydraulic filter is in the oil tank on the right. Or at least it is on the G series, is yours a G or E?

Losing an oil cooler or a supply line can burn them up in a hurry.
