reidejo 07-15-2012 12:09:53 72.26.25.223 Report to Moderator	Tractor shifts fine into forward & reverser for about 30 to 45 minutes. After that it is very slow at changing gears (direction). Once it goes into gear it pulls and pushes good. I don"t know how long it would last because I shut it down when it starts this. Any ideas on where to start would be appreciated. It should shift forward ranges to reverse without snapping your neck...And vise versa... I like to see 180 to 185 for pressures.. [Reply]  [No Email]
Roy Suomi 07-17-2012 19:05:56 76.190.200.252 Report to Moderator	Re: JD 450C reverser problem in reply to reidejo, 07-15-2012 12:09:53   With the gear part of the transmission midway between 3rd and 4th , there is a neutral position..If any of the trans mods have been done , there should be a small cut-out made where this neutral is..Put it there , lock the brake, and run the HLR in all ranges.. Notice if there is a deeper than usual "pull-down" of rpms in any range..High , Low , Reverse.. If so, This would indicate warped clutches in the clutchpacks..This causes heat, that kills transmissions.. Another give-a-way is; do you need to use the clutch pedal between shifts of the HLR ??..Transmission is out of adjustment...Pressures are lower than needed...That causes killer heat that warps clutches in clutchpacks.. When a transmission heats up , oil gets thinner causing more leakage at questionable sealing sites..Have the transmission adjusted by someone that knows whats going on..Another good source of information is the "archives" in this site.. Steering clutches are run off the transmission pressure too..They will slip if transmission is low on pressure .. [Reply]  [No Email]

Sorry it has been so long, I have been busy baling hay. I ran the HLR in all ranges. There is some pull down in reverse, none that I could notice in High or low range.
