Old flat head 6

Found an old flat head six. It has the distributor coming out the top of the head. Any idea what engine this might be?

A Continental of some sort. AFAIK they were the only one that put the distributor thru the head. Only one I ever worked with was in a mid to early 60s Checker Taxi. When they got new 65 Checkers they came with GM 6s. They were too new for me to get to drive one of them.

My old Otis Baker forklift has a flat head continental, worn right out but always starts and keeps the bugs away in spring.
Tough old engine.

Hudson, Continental. Hudson had dipper connecting rod lubrication, only 3 main bearings. I think Continental had pumped lube.

226 continental and I think the 4 cyl version of the same engine was the 134 but Probably more of that old engine in old equipment than anythin else. Firing order should be cast in to the head and the distributor will be held down by a small clip that most likely wil have a pan head type scre as opposed to a 7/16 boldt. Up draft carb on the side .

Yes I think it is the 226 continental. I did see the firing order cast in the head.
Thanks to all for there input.
