Hello folks. Have. Chance at a td 6. Owner says
only problems besides age are worn rails and
either leaky head gasket or cracked head. I"m
thinkin head. How are costs and ease of working on
them. Anything specIal to look for. Thanks in
advance. Tim

Buy the TD-6 if: A) you really want one, or B) you can steal it. You're looking at two high-cost items, a D-264 (saw a re-man head within the last six months for 1100.00) and a set of rails. However, if there is something odd about it, wide-gauge tracks for example, it would be worth the trouble.

thanks for this reply no wonder he said it could be head gasket...can you tell me wht the standard weight of the blade would be thanks tim

Just the blade? Well, there's more iron in a Bucyrus-Erie blade than in an International blade, but I would guess the weight to be in the 1800-2500 pound range, with the push arms.

Heck I have had several. It probably is the head, but that is just the beginning. those machines can be a money pit. How long was it run hot and what other damage did that do. $1100 is just a jumping off point. You can easily put $5000 in it and then you will have a $3000 machine.
