im not sure wether im supposed to use the brake pedals alone to steer or put the side i dont want to pull in nueteral also

When I run them the hand controls (low and high) were the smoothest way to steer the machine. I have been a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years and I never liked foot steer machines.

If it's an older series with levers and pedals, you pull the lever to disengage the clutch, which will turn it some, then you use the brake to slow the track to tighten your turn.

thanks for the info. my dad said just the brake and my neighbor said the high and low ievers so i wasnt sure.

The old one we had years ago always had poor brakes so it always got run on the hand controls. Hi-low for gradual turns and then forward/reverse to spin around...

The proper way to steer a Case crawler is to use the high/low levers to steer. Just use LH low/ RH high to left turn and viceversa for RT. Have worked on many 450s that people steered with the brakes and wore the splines out of the discs till they were completely gone. The main advantage of the clutch steering with hi-lo range turning is constant power to both tracks. Spot turning can be done with the brakes but that was not Case's intent. BTW, when the brake pedal is pushed the clutch disconnect circuit disengages power to the track so putting the lever in neutral is totally unnecessary, if the clutch did not disconnect turning would be impossible with full power still driving the track ahead against the applied brake. mEl

Guys,

I have a 1150 Case crawler, I was doing some landscaping this weekend and I lost hydraulic pressure to the transmission. I can lift and move the blade but the crawler will not move forward or in reverse. I changed the paper filter and washed out both screen filters, (in the tank and the screen under the floor board) now it will move and back for about 5 min of work then all pressure is lost again. I can shut it down wait for about 15 mins then start it back up and it will go again for another 1 to 5 mins? I did find a lot of metal filings in the screen filters and the two relief valves work freely. What could be the problem? Any ideas?

Hello Fernie did you solve the problem on he transmission? because i have the same problem my 1150G case dozer stopped moving foward and reverse and i shut down and wait for a couple of minutes and the start the motor and move again. i change the trans fluid, filters, and it happen again.
