int 125e tracks

Can one of you folks advise...I was looking at a 125e int loader. track adjusters were all way out . seller said no problem taking a link or two out...books I read say this is a no no...why. also I assume whiteish blue smoke upon running is ring problem. thanks in advance tim

If the track are adjusted all the way out and you have to remove links to get them adjusted up then the pins and bushings in the rails are shot and will start braking under load. If you plain on using it VERY little can remove the links. But it you plain to use it you need to replace the rails.

Rails (chains) are worn out and for sure the sprockets too. Rollers may not be any better. Removing a link will only buy you a little time but won't fix anything.
Before you buy the machine you may want to check on availability of replacement undercarriage first. It might be scarce.
125E's were good machines in their day.

Tim the other two have pretty well covered it. If the rails have internal wear too the point that the adjustment is out you might get 250 hrs by removing ONE link but you will need to leave the worn sprockets on the machine. New sprockets on the worn rails just don,t work. I have never seen one that was worn enough to remove two links. Your smoke could be, rings, low compression, weak injector, ect. I thought you had already purchased the unit. LOW oil preasure and destroying the lower (crankshaft) is the only real alibi that the 125 had. When you go to looking for rails TD 8e and some 8C rails will also fit. New off brand rails are avl..
