Reward $500 dollars for the return of a Caterpillar radiator

$500 Dollar Reward for information that leads to the return of a Caterpillar model 12 road grader radiator stolen from my Craryville NY property some time between the 13th and 20th of May. The radiator fits a very rare 1940 Gasoline powered 6M series of which only 56 were built. This machine is number 17. Call Dave at 518-325-7610 if you have any information. If no one answers, please leave a message. Thanks.

Dave, you must be bleeding from your eyeballs... but man, don't let it run your life. You will probably never see it again, somebody went to a lot of trouble to get that heavy s.o.b., more than a one-person job. Why don't you try ACMOC Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owner's Club? There's a lot of old coots over there that can help you find something similar (a Diesel THIRTY maybe?)

I truly hope it shows up but you can bet the ones that know where it went will never bring it back, so there is not much hope.
Around here, the scrap dealers can be blamed as much as the thieves. Some do not agree, but the scrap dealers know a lot of this stuff is "hot", they take it simply because they are turning a good dollar. They just get the stuff gone quickly before anyone comes around looking.
I think we should force clear videos of EVERY load, as it is unloaded. Tag that video to a driver's license, tag number, and SS number.
We make it far too easy for them to turn stolen iron in to cash.
We could also force the cash out of the scrap business. Make them write a check that holds for 15 days. That would give the scrap dealers a 15 day float on their money in lieu of cash. It would also give us time to see who brought that stolen load and cancel payment. We would also increase tax revenues on all of the cash that is not reported by the dealers.
You would see a lot less iron growing legs if it was easy to get caught and they risk having the check cancelled!

Did you contact any of the scrapyards in the albany area, such as NK Kelman in Cohoes ?

Freedman was bought out by someone recently.

Link below to one of the yards at the port of albany, there may be more than one scrap outfit there, look in the yellow pages.

Thats the one thing I like about the hardnose on my old D7 Cat, just try and get that radiator out in short order.

I have to agree, these people suck, and its not going to end, given the economic times, theft is rising to new levels. God help them if they ever showed up at my yard attempting something like that, hesitation is not a word in my vocabulary.
Capitol Scrap

Might as well forget ever finding it. It's been scrapped and the proceeds used to buy drugs. Nothing is safe anymore, even it's only worth a dollar or two - those druggies will steal anything.

All good points, but I don't think it was scrapped.
There's easier stuff to get off that grader that
weighs more than the radiator, amount of brass
notwithstanding. The place must have been under surveillance, in order to time the theft. It is
possible somebody needed one,and with good
intentions, put the word out. Well, you can guess
the rest of the story.

Yeah, I've covered all of the bases mentioned and then some. I have the reward listed on Craigs list. I'm hoping that one of the theives dirt bag buddies will rat them out for some cash. The radiator was off of the machine and leaning againt my pole barn when it was taken. Still, It was too heavy for me to move by myself. I have been doing some repairs to the machine and had to use my backhoe to move it. there had to be more than one, or a roll back truck, or piece of machinery to move it as it was very heavy. I have the local news paper looking into doing a story on the grader. Dave!

Dave Last fall i had 30-35 dozer radiators stolen They were hidden and they would have had to carry them 20 yards at least. Police and i checked many of the scrap yards and nothing only trouble is the scrap yards are as crooked as the scrapers. good luck i hope you find it
