I have an oil leak on the engine block between the injector pump and the govenor, behind the booster fuel pump. The oil is not comming from the booster pump. The oil drips onto the motor support below. I have an oil leak around the throttle control shaft but I believe there is more oil comming from somewhere else. To replace the seal around the throttle shaft I need to remove the plate on the govenor held on by six bolts. Will things fly apart if I remove the plate to replace the seal? Any ideas where the other oil may be comming from? Thanks, G B

If it's leaking from the throttle shaft, Bob/Ont told me the best fix. Take the cover off carefully so nothing pops out of place (it shouldn't) and put two new seals in instead of one. That's what I did on my 931B that was leaking because the seal got hard. I put a couple drops of oil in between the two seals just to provide a little lubrication for the outside seal. It's possible all the oil is coming from the throttle shaft.

Thanks, I will get another seal. I assume that the plate is thick enough to hold two seals. I hope that is where all of the oil is comming from. I have lost contact with Bob/Ont. Is he still active on the forum? I had another posting on a water leak. Do you have any advice on fixing the water leak between the timing gear cover and the head?

Bob responded to you above in another post. Yes, the cover will hold two seals. You have to get the seal from Cat and if I remember they're about $9 each. Bob is the best one to talk to though. The place that rebuilt my engine told me I need to have the injection pump rebuilt because of the oil leak on the throttle shaft. Good thing I asked and Bob responded. He's been a great help with my Cat.
