Never again....Swapped out a Yanmar NTE-88 that was mistreated by a contractor for a Kubota 1903 ..Had to change/fabricate everything to make it work....Motor mounts , radiator, throttle bellcrank as the throttle worked the wrong way, change pump mounting bolt holes by 7 degrees, manual gauges , shut-off cable , oil cooler mounting , exhaust, air cleaner.Made an adapter to replace oil filter with a machined roundstock , drilled channeled and remote filter mount and hydraulic hoses....Kinda like building a hotrod.... many hours later finally done..Works well..Reason for swap as opposed to rebuild ?? Parts list was 3800.00 without doing the head and injector pump, starter.. Kubota was in an unused boring machine with only 40 hours on it.... |

Weird, I ordered tractor parts from Summit yesterday too.
My wife thought I was up to no good when she saw the invoice on the kitchen table. |

| Roy I am 69 years old and have spent the last 40 + years sellin, servicing & repairing heavy equipment. Have seen ever kind of engine swap from a Mack truck engine in a td 20 ih dozer to smaller swaps. In almost every case the end results did not justify the effort. Firt you have to get the motor hooked up and mounted. Then fuel in, air in, exaust out, and cooling water. Then the throttle controls will always be off side.. Just a lot of work. I have an ih scout pickup that I am thinking of putting a KUBOTA disel in and I know I am in for a job but got plenty of time.. |

| I've got everything done with the exception of engine cooling..I found that the electric fan was a puller not a pusher, and a little undersized for application..If the waterpump weren't off-set , I could have used a conventional driven fan on it.. Everything else worked out t*ts..I couldn't believe that I got all that bent tin put back on.. It's a mess.. |

| I contacted Summit Racing in NE Ohio today and ordered a Mr. Gasket #1987 fan from their online catalog.. 1500 cfm should do the trick..Alter the fan mount bracket , wire it up and test it..I've got 2 stumps to test it out on.. |

| I just quoted a rebuild on a NTE 88 Yanmar. I felt bad for the guy it was a low hour machine, he ripped the coolant drain hose off under the machine with something and cooked the engine. the parts were crazy and you can"t cross it to anything else. they have those engines shoe horned so tight in those machines i can"t imagine what you went thru to get a Kubota in there. |
