The original subject was "Case 580 Starting".

Well, Electrically everything checks out. Still starts hard but I have found something I find VERY interesting and I have yet to find an explaination. I can crank it for a long time, see blue smoke start to come out the stack then eventusally it will start. OR I can crank it a little, stop cranking, hit the key again & it starts IMMEDIATELY... Consistent.. Crank 5 seconds, stop cranking for a couple seconds then it will start in 2 seconds of cranking. I started to notice this when my fingers slipped on the key. Now it starts easy if I do this, I just wonder WHY?????? Anybody ever bump into this before?

The fuel sprayed into the cylinders when you first crank it helps seal the rings increasing the compression. Kind of the same principle as spraying oil in the cylinders when doing a compression test.

I thought about the dry rings thing... Then I got into a few dat stretch of starting it daily. Same thing & when she fire a VERY small puff of black & then cear exhaust/no blue smoke. No blow by.... She runs too well to be rings...at least thats my thoughts without compression testing.. I'm almost thinking a seal issue somewhere in the injector pump?
