Cat D4 7U

I have been looking for a smaller dozer to clear some brush and I ran across a "52 Cat D4 7U. I went and took a look at it and drove it the other day and everything seemed fine, but I just don"t know much about them. Are they any weak points on these dozers to look out for?

Just bought one, 51 model, bout 2 months ago Let you know weak parts in a few months!! Seriously make sure tracks are tight according to specs. Nothing much worse than track off in mud hole!!

There is nothing wrong with a D4 7U. It is capable of almost anything. If the tracks are in good shape they will never come off.

A dozer that is 50 + years old is going to have some problems sooner or latter but your D4 7u is know to be a pretty good older dozer. Check for cracked or welded final drive housing, look up under the back for leaks, check the clutch feel, look at the radiator. And last of all if you can,t do your own work and are not prepared to spend some on it let it pass.
