Biggest excavator or backhoe under 10,000lbs

I'm looking for an excavator or backhoe that I can haul on my 7-ton deckover trailer. The trailer is about 3250lbs empty.

This is mostly a toy, for digging stumps, digging drainage tile lines, digging tiger traps, loading scrap metal, clearing hedge rows, etc..

What does a 10,000lb excavator look like? I really have no idea what the darn things weigh, but I know they're heavy.

Thanks guys. That Yanmar B50 looks like a darn respectable machine as far as size goes.

I agree with John 730D, I have a Yanmar B50, about 10,000 lbs on rubber tracks (doesnt chew up the yard) and 4 cylinder Yanmar engine is very powerful, dependable and economical. Here is a pic trying out the thumb I made for picking up rocks. Also works great for digging stumps and cleaning ditches and trenching. Thats how I got my handle "DiggerDick" Id go to the woods to make trails or dig ponds and lose track of time because I enjoy digging so much.

Moder model KUBOTA would be u 35 at 8835 lb or u 45 at 11,400 lb. Eithe wil really do a lot of work. Go to a rental place and rent something and try it first. Have a rental store here that has 14 KUBOTs in their rental fleet and they stay rented all the time.

I had 2 Yanmar B50's. It is a 10,000 lb machine, and you won't be happy with anything smaller. I compared it to all others including brand new models. Nothing even came close. More power and faster cycle times.

Used them for many years in an excavating business with minimal problems. This was in the late 80's through mid 2000's. Parts are alot easier to get now.

Do not get anything with a "knuckle boom" where the dipperstick swivels separate from the boom. On most the boom will swing independent of the machine which is nice for digging along buildings.
