Bought an OC4 diesel, with brand new tracks. After running it a bit, it ruined the center rib on the left front idler. Problem appears to be that the grousers (growsers?) are a little too wide, and the blade arms are bent a little to the left- so the blade arm pushed against the track, causing the center rib on the idler to wear off.

So I'm going to get the blade arms straightened, but I was also wondering if there would be a problem with cutting off about an inch on the inside of each grouser. Could be done with a jig, and a plasma cutter.

Can I get away with just removing an inch on the inside, and leaving the outside as is? Track would have more grouser on the outside than on the inside, is that going to cause a lot of trouble? Would sure rather get away with half the cutting, if I can.

Sounds like you've got an early HG front idler on there. Late HGs, OC3s, and OC4s use idlers that have two rims that ride the outside of the track chain (no center raised rib).

As to cutting off one side of the track pads? I had to do mine on my 1010 and it's been fine. 14" pads from a Deere 1010 dozer were too wide for my Deere 1010 loader. So I had to cut off one inch on the inside.
