The original subject was "By the way".

Hey i was wandering if you hooked your backhoe into the loader controlls to continue the loop if so could you tell me how? i tried this and cracked my pump! the valve on the backhoe is open center. Im not sure what happened yet. any help you could give me would be grateful.

I don't know what machine you have but you must have dead ended your pump flow without a relief valve. For open center you need power beyond. That will capture the pump flow returning to the tank and force it out to a remote valve. You then need a fitting in the main valve to take the return flow from the remote valve back to the tank. The hoses to the remote valve need to be set up with male and female quick couplers so they can be connected together to complete the oil flow back to tank when the hoe is taken off.

It is a crawler t-340 international. i connected the pressure hose to the loader valve. and continued the loop through the backhoe valve back to the transmission/resevior. my assumption was the loader valve had a relief valve? i also plugged the dump side of the loader valve becuase the first time i hooked it up it would only work when i worked the loader controls.-when it went back to nuetral i had no pressure at the backhoe. Hope that makes sense! HOW DO I KNOW IF ITS POWER BEYOND? Can you send me pics or links to the parts your talking about? I realy want to figure this thing out, thanks alot for your reply!

Okay Chris, now I see what's happening.
Plugging the return dammaged your pump.
The relief valve had no place to dump to.
I can't help much but someone here can.
Repost this here with T340 backhoe in the title.

Chris common open center POWER BEYOND valves have three lines BESIDE THE WORK PORTS.. You will have one marked in, one marked out, and one marked PB or power beyond.. now here is the rub most people get the out and PB mixed up. Out is only a dump back to low presure or tank side. The pb is what will carry the power on to the backhoe valve, IN PORT.. You can buy a seperate relief valve if you need.

high im trying to hook up a backhoe attachment to my t-340 international crawler. the loader valve has several large extra plugs on it. i hooked the backhoe valve to one and it would only work when i operated the front bucket. it would not work when the loader valve was in nuetral. so what i done then is ran the dump straight to the backhoe valve making one loop this seemed to work for 10 mins realy good then my pump cracked. can any one explain to me how i would know if i have power beyond.

the backhoe valve is open center and also has relief valve. shouldnt it have worked the same? Im sorry but i dont understand how i dead ended the pump.- What if i removed the pressure relief valve in the loader valve and pluged it would it then work off the one in the backhoe valve. Would this just extend the valve 3spools to 9?

im only using one or the other at a time. please help? thanks? P.S. please respond in crayon because im not to smart on hydrualics. thanks again.

1. would that go before the loader valve? That hose is very big and has a fitting on one end that i dont think i can replace and some knuckle head saughtered the other end to stop it leaking. so im trying not to disturb it for now.

2. what if i removed the relief valve and pluged it on the loader? would it then work off the relief valve on the backhoe valve. Would this be combining 3 spools to 6 more waking it work like one 9 spool valve.

3. is there any other option i would love to make this work? thanks again!!

4. Also the plugs i mentioned on the loader valve you can blow air in one and it comes out all 3 even the dump. so i guess no matter wich one i hook to im still hooking to the dump. RIGHT??

Chris, check your valve for markings JM mentioned. Don't plug any relief valves.
With open center valves you need to close the open center path to harness the hyd power.
The open center path goes to the return after the last spool in the valve bank.
To use power beyond the center flow needs to be seperated from the return untill it goes through the remote valve and then the remote valve's return also sent back to return. This gets a bit trickey to advise upon here not knowing your valve because you want to keep the flow to the remote valve seperated from the main valve's return to prevent pressure backing up to places in the main valve it shouldn't go. The only power beyong I have ever set up required a plug be installed inside the valve under the P B fitting and the remote valve return flow came back to another fitting in the main valves return. This is the best I can do without seeing your valve.
