Differential ?

I have a 350D case Dozer that has serious rearend problems. I am sure it a big project either way, but would finding a whole rearend, or doing it piecemeal. Any suggestions welcome

When you say differential are you talking about the ring and pinion that sits between the steering clutches, or one of the final drives. I ask because a crawler has no spider gears, therefore no differential.

That said if your talking about the ring and pinion your gonna have to set the backlash between the gears regardless of wether you go with used pieces from one or multiple places, or if you use all brand new stuff. Either way it's not usually 'that big of a job' unless it's something your not used to doing and don't have the proper tools to do it.

If it's a final drive there isn't really anything like backlash, etc, etc that needs to be set/adjusted. So, again, multiple used parts or all new stuff, either way is going to be the same amount of work.

Thanks. I have worked on them over the years, but it"s been a long time. I would like to find a whole complete unit in workable shape to make it simple.

I was looking for something else and looked at what"s been parted on Machinery trader, you might find a diff, lots of 350"s at the link below.

350 certainly does have a differential and has NO steering clutches. It uses a Clark transaxle and uses a brake controlled differential for steering. Same basic setup as used in Terratracs and Oliver-Cletracs.

I'm not sure that a 350D it ,but the 310 and 350 series use Clark tranaxles with brake-controlled differentials. Same design as used in Bombardier, Terratrac and Oliver-Cletrac crawlers. Even some farm wheel-tractors use it (minus the two brake bands). Individual parts can very a lot according to serial #.
