anybody know what that early ford crawler they made in like the late 60s early 70s they didnt make many thanks

I only ever saw one, It came in from England,by ship and then by truck to our dock. It sat there for a day, and then a collector picked it up. It looked like a Ford 5000 with tracks.

I think I saved 2 photos of these, can't recall where I got em, but all the odd ball ford or really ford labelled equipment is of interests, somewhere in my file directory, I'll post them I remember and find em again!

I don"t think Ford ever built a crawler tractor but lots of other people converted Fordson tractors from wheels to tracks,Trackson was doing it in the 1920"s,County,Bray and Roadless were doing them in England from the 1940"s,if you go to the Italian site MMT at the link below, type Ford in the search box on the left of the first page and it will bring up lots of crawlers as well all other Ford stuff.

I can't find a link right now, but I believe Holt Mnfg in Oregon made a small crawler in the 60s, using a Ford 800/4000 drivetrian. Not very many made.

There is loads of Fords on tracks but they were not built by Ford, the crawlers in the pictures were built by Mailam of Italy using Ford tractors,IH track frames and Berco tracks, they were true crawlers as they were fitted with steering clutches rather than diff steer that a lot of the otheres had, they were lots of them here in the UK and were a decent machine, good looking too.

those look pretty neat I also like the FWA with the tracks bet that would go any where, those crawler units my guess is they are the ones the other poster talked about made in England? were they are good unit? some thing odd for here for sure I do like the looks of them, and am assueming they were a std trans, no torque converter? thanks for posting cnt

The TRACK frames, rollers and idlers , i.e. the track bottom was the same as a td9 ih crawler. At least that was what I was told some time back about 1966 when I was trying to help a guy get one going

They caught my eye too, so I saved the photos of them, we were a ford tractor dealer at one time, never saw one of these ford crawlers even in any literature, nor the FWA hundred series (or Elenco FWA kit) installed on a hundred series ford tractor, let alone with the ARPS track system too, so I save that photo. It does look like its unstoppable with that ARPS kit on it too !

You would think those crawlers, based on the tractor platform would be direct drive, sure would be interested to see what was bolted up where the trans would be, and of course the rest of the back end, I need to look up that mfr name and see what turns up, there was some discussion on the ford forum of the same title, providing some more info.

Meant to tell you, always enjoy those photos on the Case forum, rarely saw any Case in this area, yet they were real popular in central NY, farmer who used to work this ground had a round nose like a 311 or something, even as kid I knew it was a JI Case, the color was odd, cause we mostly had JD, IH, and Ford here, but I still liked that tractor, he still had it til '95 too, 'cept someone set his shop on fire that year, some rotten people in this world sometimes.
