555 Ford TLB

Can anyone help me with information on this old TLB?

I found a 555 Ford extenda-hoe.
I get to check it out next weekend.
The motor does have some blow-by.
Hours are unknown, around a 1980 model.
This backhoe is two wheel drive. It has new tires, two buckets and a set of pallet forks, the injection pump and starter have been redone.
Service manual is included.
$6500.00
Note: The owner tells me the manual says it is a 201 @ 45HP?
I'll record the numbers for verification.
It is supposed to be a good runner. (Aren't they always!) LOL
I'll know more when I see it.

I'll try to get some pictures.
PS I posted this on the Ford forum too!

555's were a good machine. If everthing works as it
should that doesn't sound like too bad of a price
considering the extra's it has and the work that has
been done to it. Does it appear to be well
maintained? Does the backhoe slop around a lot or is
it still fairly tight?

The old triple nickle was one of the best backhoe loaders that Ford ever built, I've seen them with over 5000 hours and still going strong. I think you will have yourself a good machine.

Very good machines, alot of em still used regularly. It is a 201 3cyl, but 57hp. I dont think any 201s were 45hp.

Checked em. Not sure what I'm looking for, the hp? They carried the same ratings as the late 4000, 4600, 4610, 420, 515, 531 and 535: 62 gross engine hp, 57 net engine hp, 52 pto hp. Since backhoes don't have a pto they go by the engine ratings.

Well, right or wrong, it's now mine!
No leaks showing after running quite a while, some slop in front axle and swing pins, but still a decent running machine.
I got the price down a bit too!

Almost any used backhoe is gonna have some slop in the boom, unless its very close to being new. If its not too awful bad then you got a good one for its age. 6500 didn't sound too bad a price, so if you got it even cheaper than that I'd say you got a good deal. Hope it serves you well.
