Case 1550 Dozer???

A friend of mine has offered us (we are a missions group supporting orphans in Cambodia and could use it for pushing up rice levees) a Case 1550 Dozer. It has low engine hours but developed converter problems about 5 years ago. They had a Case shop go through the power train and spent about $8000. After about 50 hours it suddenly lost all the tranny oil and they parked it. It has not moved since. He's offered to give it to us,(in Cambodia) but I'd have to ship it from Colorado, at a cost of about $5000. I'm curious if anyone on the forum has an idea of what could be wrong? I realize this is not much to go on but any ideas will help. All I know is that there were no strange noises, it just quit moving, and when the looked back all the oil was on the ground. They don't think it is as simple as a plug falling out. Thanks in advance.

Ted Get a hold of George Miller If anybody knows these big Case Crawler it is him i will sent you his email address if he doesn't chime in Ed

1550 has hydrostatic drive - no convertor.
Probably has blown a hose, no oil = no drive.
Hopefully no damage has occured to pumps that will mean big dollars to repair.
