JD500A Brake/Hydraulic Problem

HELP!!!
My left brake locked up due to a torn boot on the brake valve. I rebuilt the brake valve and reinstalled it. When I starting the tractor my brake pedles became stiff and the seal blew on my hydraulic pump. Did I do something wrong with the brake valve rebuild or is it just a coincidence the pump seal blew out.
Thanks for any advice.

IF I remember correctly, the brake reservoir is filled with fluid from the hydraulic pump, not pressurized. You probably created a new internal leak in the brake valve. THAT sent oil back the wrong way and pushed out the pump seal.
The hydraulic pump has close fitting parts, shaft to housing, to stop most oil from leaking. then there is a 4 sided seal to stop what oil leaks past there. Then there is the outside seal to keep the outer side of the shaft dry. There is a bleed tube to catch oil that is between the 4-sided ring, and the outer seal. That small bleed tube keeps the brake reservoir topped off. When the reservoir is full, extra oil goes back to the trans case.

It appears that the black tubing is causing the break cylinders to become pressurized forcing the pedals upward. I removed the pump and replaced the inner and outer seals but the inner seal quickly blew out again. I'm not sure if the brake cylinder was the cause of the problem or if the pump just happened to fail at the same time. I hate to replace the pump only to have it blow out due to a problem with the brakes.
Thanks for the help!!!

WRONG WRONG WRONG...

There is NO brake reservoir, simply a brake valve.

The valve is fed line-pressure hydraulic oil and any slight leakage PLUS return oil when the brakes are released is simply "T'd" together with any oil from the main pump weep line and dumps into the maincase.

Guys,
I have a thread on the John Deere forum.
My son advises me it is impolite to post on 2 forums.
Sorry
