Water pump in Cat?

A couple days ago I posted about a hub coming loose that the pulley and fan bolt to on my Cat. I priced out a higher quality water pump. $211 for rebuilt and $236 for a new one. For $25 more I think it's better to go new over rebuilt? The other option is to try and get the hub to stay tight on the existing water pump. Would I be better off just putting a new water pump on? The engine and rad are rebuilt and the last thing I need is the fan through the rad. Has anyone else heard of the hub coming loose on a water pump? Thanks Dave

Go with the new pump. the labor on recoring the raditor is more than the new pump.

The rad. recore was $1100! I phoned Cat today for a price, $294 for a rebuilt water pump but they give $100+ credit for a core. I think the new one I priced is an IPD. Is new still the best way to go? Dave

I would go with the new one. E mail me at [email protected] I was a cat field mech for many years and then went in business for myself. Retired now.
