This dozer has been setting for a few years. Ran fine when it was parked. Trying to get it running. Get lots of white smoke, but won't run. Had injectors checked. Primed the system all the way to the injectors. Tried a shot of ether. Won't even fire on that. Any ideas?
Thanks.

How does it shut off? Some JD machines use a solonoid on the injection pump. How cold is it? Does it have a block heater? Does it have new fuel? Once a machine has been sitting for a few years, anything is possible. Why was it sitting for a few years? Dave

Check everything....is the starter turning over quick enough? How much charge do you have in the battery? Is the fuel any good? Try using fresh fuel. Check the fuel shutoff at the pump to make sure it is getting fuel (if it's diesel and spewing white smoke it sounds like it's getting fuel) and check the air intake. Make sure the motor isn't suffocating.
If possible, disconnect or turn off any additional hydraulic pumps or pto's. It lessons the load on the motor for starting. If its outside and its cold, wait for a warmer day and use block heaters or magnetic heaters to preheat the fluids.

Dozer was setting because the turbo and the top of the exhaust got broke off. The man didn't have enough money to fix it. Trying to start it without the turbo. I was told it won't start with it off. Someone said it won't get enough air. Has clean fuel and it's setting inside where it's warm. Spinning over plenty fast enough. Does it matter which way the hand pump lever is in?
Thanks.
