Electrical? Light switch

I checked the ground stud on my skid steer and put dielectric grease on everything after taking it apart, but I still have the same problem. If I turn the lights on, they go out after a while and all the electrical power for accessories is gone. If I shut the light switch off and the heater for about 30 seconds, then everything works again. I can leave the heater on all day but if I put the lights on, they go out after about 5 minutes and even less after the first time. Here's my question, Could the light switch be bad or not HD enough? Thanks in advance. This is getting frustrating when I can't work when it gets dark so early. Dave

sounds like a auto breaker tripping...could be your ignition switch too [acc terminal]

Probably a breaker tripping on you... but that could be the result of high resistance in the switch. Or bare wires somewhere...
Probably not much way to find it other than the hard way, with an ohm meter. Check the circuit resistance, then the actual resistance at the loads and see if you can find the additional load in the circuit.
Not much fun on a tractor, let alone a skid steer.
Got the Batman suit? Probably going to need it...

It could be worse. I could have a different machine that was all electronic and a total nightmare. I heard the original Bobcat BOSS system was full of problems. Dave

Sounds like an auto-reset breaker. My Gehl was blowing the main fuse- turned out to be a bare wire on an unused pigtail. Rubbed through years after I added a toolbox behind the seat- not bolted down. Dickens to find- tipped the cage a couple of times, went over every inch of wire.

Breaker could be "tired" or the inside of the breaker could be worn from tripping so many times and not hold in the closed position. Try replacing your breaker and see if that helps.

I took the plate off that holds the light switch and ignition switch. Couldn't see any bad wires or anything but it was quite dusty in there. I sprayed some brake cleaner I had on the wire connections and it seems to have helped. I ran it for about 15 minutes and the lights stayed on. I'll run it longer tomorrow and see what it does. Could dust on the switch connections cause it? I didn't see a breaker anywhere. The radio in my truck stated working again too for no apparent reason. Must be my lucky day, I fixed stuff without actually doing much. Dave

I'm going clean the connection on the Voltage regulator as well. I didn't use the factory connector because the dealer wanted over $120 for a $32 regulator just because it had a different plug on the end. Dave
