Ihave a oc3 looked all over for id or numbers even blasted the frame with motor out no numbers. I know its a oc3 because of the front track wheel and the motor(4-cyl) has a water pump.. just wanted to know about the year..
Hope for help..Steve

Guess what: Late HG tractors also had water pumps plus the other front idler plus there were field kits to add both to older HG tractors. I have posted this information on the Cletrac form. Behind the engine oil filter is a flat spot milled in the edge of the engine block. The model of the engine as well as the engine serial number will be stamped in that area. Also behinf the mag the dates the block was cast will be in the casting. I will send you an e-mail as well. J.

Late HGs and OC3s can be identical and some were made in the same year. Add that the factor that these machines were like the Ford Model Ts of the crawler world and parts got swapped a lot. I know in my area, there used to be HGs and OC3s all over the place. That results in many old parts put on newer machines, or vice-versa.

Front track wheels don't help the ID. Even if original the later HGs had thesame as OC3s (the type that wrapped around the track chain).

The very late HGs got a change in the final drives in the top bearing area. If your's has the change, it still doesn't make it one or the other, but at least gives some idea of age.

The only things that might help a positive ID (if you know the parts are original) - besides the ID plate - is these changes from - late HG/early OC3 to late OC3 . . .

seat spring changed at serial # 1WHF458 (1951)
radiator cap was changed three times
track adjuster changed twice
main frame changed once
track adjuster changed

Hey thanks for the info.

Number-- oil filter side Ixb3

2434888

under Mag--75 55 (9E) 746

I could not tell if the one was a 9-or-E. take the top of the E off and put the back of the 9 with the E and that is what it looks like..

Thanks Steve
