I might be nuts but just started to do this oc3..Doing some blasting and fixing two broken bolts.. I want to use it to skid logs.. I'm looking at a oc6 but don't know athing about them?? Does anyone know the in's and out's of the 6, or the parts that inter change.. Is it one to stay away from?? Any help would be good.. Thought I would share some pic to pass the days of winter.

Which crawler are you looking to pull logs with, the OC3 or OC6?

Parts are easier to find for the OC3, and both crawlers are a little too fast in 1st gear for heavy pulling. In fact, many older crawlers are that way. My Allis HD6 is also too fast in 1st.

OC3 was available with a an aux. transmission that makes it much better for pulling. But, of course it's a very small machine, so you cannot expect too much. I use mine to pull big logs in low-range 1st when I can't get in with anything else. That small size comes in handy.

I doubt many parts interchange between the 3 and 6, but I'm sure Zimmerman's in PA will tell you all you need to know about that.

The OC-6 depending on age and if gas or diesel was pretty much an Oliver 77 or Super 77 wheel tractor on tracks. Some of the track parts for the OC-3 will fit the OC-6. The OC-6 depending on which engine is in will have 6 speeds forward, live PTO and Live hydraulics. It will have about 15-20 Horsepower more than the OC-3. It will hold its value better as there are less of them and some are still used on muck farms
