I removed the master pin on a set of tracks for my A/C M several years ago. Now I am using the tracks and sprocket on another tractor. The pin has a small amount of wear. I want the pin to be equal to the othre pins. If I am looking at the sprocket will the wear on the pin face front, or back? stan

most of the wear will be to the bottom of space between teeth...in other words where the pin meets center of valley.

If the internal wear of what you have is not too much, it ought to ride in the root of the tooth on the sprocket, like was mentioned. If the measurement between the specified number of pins for that undercarriage,(internal wear) is showing they are worn, the pin/bushing will start to ride up higher on the sprocket tooth, and accelerate wear to the sprocket, making the tooth sharp eventually, time to adjust the tracks if their is adjustment left, or find a way to tighten them so the pin/bushing rides at the root of the tooth.

If the tracks are on correctly (not backwards) and the master pin is located at the back of the sprocket then the worn part of the pin should face up. i.e. worn part faces master link not master bushing. Assuming you want to reassemble they way it came apart. Steve. pdmechanical.com
