Master Pin Removal on Track for Cat D2

The master pin has a 3/8 fine thread bore on each end.. The bore was pluged with a cork. There apears to be a spring pin collar around the master pin on the ends. Also, there is a collar in the joint between master links where the master pin goes through. How do you get the master pin out to split the tracks?

You are looking at a tapered dowel in each end of the pin, when the dowel is driven in it expands the pin which is split out against the bore of the link,to get the pin out the dowels have to be removed first,if you have a tap clean the threads, use a suitable piece of high grade threaded bar to screw into the dowel, use a suitable sleeve or a socket over the bar,put on the nut and tighten it up,hopefully the dowels will pop out, when the dowels are out use a suitable punch and drive the pin out, see the picture below.
