Electrical connector

I have an IH-TD8E that in it's former life had a fire behind the instrument panel. The connector that all the wires hook into between the engine harness and the dash was damaged and cobbled together with tape to keep everything lined up properly. Now it's giving me trouble. I have to remove the security shield and grab the connector and wiggle it to make a connection to start the machine. This is not the way to do things and might be inviting another fire!!! Now the question: where might I locate an electrical connector or what about just splicing the wires together with "handshake" connectors? Any ideas are welcome. Thanks 'Mo

Depending on the size of the wires and how often you might have to disassemble it you could get several automotive trailer type connectors if the wiring draws fairly heavy current or you can go to an electrical supply website like Mouser and buy amphenol plugs and connectors in many configurations. If its just a few connections, the wires are all colorcoded and it may hardly ever come apart again I would just buy male and female insulated flat blade connectors and splice them individually.

the main reason those connectors are there is to make things go faster on the assembly line...take a look at the connection...is this something youre ever gonna take apart??? if the answer is no,i'd solder wires together and seal with heat shrink tubing...end of problem.

Thanks for the reply. The chance of having to disconnect those wires is remote at best! I like your idea!!! "Mo
