Gerlinger Crawler Anyone

I have a 1980 gerlinger Lc 30 crawler tractor and am wondering if anyone has one or has heard of them.
It is a 6000 pound steel track, hydrostatic driven machine powered by a isuzi 2 cylinder 2ab1 diesel engine. It has a front end loader and hydralic rippers on the back.
I spoke to some guy in Oregan about 10 years ago who said he made them and also a 6 way blade dozer.A company out of Salem Oregan called layton manufacturing from my understanding bought him out and used the design for something else. This machine has 660 hours on the hobbs. It has sat for the past 6 years i started it yesterday but it needs a little TLC.

Gerlinger is a familiar name out here, but had no idea they"d built, or were involved in building, a crawler.
Altho owned for awhile by Towmotor and Cat, family members reacquired the original straddle-carrier business in the 70"s (gerlingercarrier.com).
It should be a place to start for info, if not parts help. Good luck.

I have been looking for a LC-30. One gentleman was selling his in Western Pa. I was hoping to find one near California. He has the manual. He had to repair his final drive. He called Layton and they referred him to a machinist in Oregon that makes parts. He primes his engine with ether to start it. His was the 3rd made. Does yours leak or smoke? Is yours near California?

I am in the process of replacing two of the ram seals which have gone.Other than that this little one has never leaked a drop since i have had it. I was lucky enough to get the manual plus the engine manual.
I put some teeth on the bucket which really helped her. This one is in georgia any idea what they are going for these days

I have an LC30, but I don't know what year it is . Someone cut off the mounts for the rippers, and I'm hoping to add a 3-point hitch in its place. I need some additional weight on the back because the loader bucket will lift enough weight that the back end comes off the ground. I have a parts catalog from Layton, but the last time I called them, I was told that they no longer support the Gerlinger. Last year I found a water pump in eastern USA, but I now need an engine block heater, and am having some trouble finding one. Unfortunately, the catalog from Layton shows most parts with original part numbers, so no one can cross-reference to find replacements. For whatever reason, Isuzu part numbers are shown for the water pump, and that's how I was able to get that. Last year I found a nice picture of the little 'critter' on-line, but can't find it now.

Since we have a few gerlingers out there we need to network with one another since parts may be a problem, and it would be interesting to see how many we can find in working condition

Could I get you to make a copy of the owners manual and engine manual? I can send you a check to cover the cost of having it done. I have a 79 model LC30. It is in great shape and has 800 hour on it. We had to build a new bucket for it and replace the seals in 3 cylinders, but that is minor. Send me an email if you want to see pictures. We just repainted it, so it looks like new. Thanks, Ben Baty 404-273-3997

I just purchased one a Gerlinger loader. Someone transplanted a 3 cylinder Kubota in the machine so the jury is still out as to whether it will perform properly. The hydrostatics are loud and sluggish like a supply restriction exists. Any idea what type of oil to use in the hydraulics?
