Gehl 2600 Skid loader - jerky ride

My skid loader has a problem. Every once in a while, the right wheels seem to jerk uncontrollably – almost like a mechanical link (chain?) is binding and releasing. I’ve tightened the left and right chains by jacking the machine with the idler shaft hub but this had no effect on curing the problem. The machine is rather worn and the wheel bearings seem a bit loose.

Does this sound like a problem with the hydraulic pump/motor or the mechanical transmission? Could my problem be worn wheel bearings?

I’d like to keep this machine running for awhile. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've never saw the innards of a Gehl chaincase but would assume they would be similar to a Bobcat, I have saw Bobcats get so worn the chain drive sprocket would spin inside the chain, Bobcat chains are not adjustable but even if they were, if you just have nub's to drive a chain where teeth should be most likely it would still jump. A busted bearing may cause symptoms like this but it would be easy to see that one tire is off kilter compared to the other(s), and the axle seal should be leaking.
