I've got a New Holland LS-190 skid steer loader that I've had a lot of trouble with. I bought it new in 2001. I'm wondering if anyone else with an LS-190 is having problems with the axles coming out?

I'm pretty frustrated with this machine and wished I'd bought a Case or a Cat now. Oh well live and learn.

Which is it that is happeneing ...the wheel(s) fall off or the axle is coming out of the housing ???? Then you say that one side is locked up and the dealer "doesn't know why " ??? Who put the pumps on ?? the dealer or you ..And what prompted the pump change ??? a shot in the dark ?? Sounds like you have a dealer problem ...if their answer to a problem is "they don't know " !!!! If the problems are not attributable to neglect or abuse, then I would contact New Holland directly...and keep calling until you get satisfaction. I worked at a JD construction equipment dealership and believe me...the squeaky wheel gets the oil !! Just have to commplain to the right people....

Thanks Johnathan.

The axle comes out of the housing.

The right side quit working. I ran some tests and replaced the hydrostatic pump on the problem side, changed the filter, flushed the system. The new pump didn't fix it. So I sent it to the local dealer.

But you are right about the local dealer being a "problem". I talked to the local dealers shop foreman who made this statement. "We've got it up on blocks and we are looking at it. We've run some tests and they all point to the hydrostatic pump. We have to get some more guages from the head office and might have to call in an expert."

I've been in touch with New Holland a number of times on the Axle problem. But I will keep calling.

I've also been in touch with New Holland on the hydraulics problem.

I am not sure how much you want to know about this deal? This brand new LS-190 had hydraulic problems within a month after purchase.

I can see there is a lot of interest in this LS-190 problem.

Anyone know of a skidsteer loader message board? I've looked but can't find any.

Now the right side drive has frozen up on it and the local dealer says they can't figure out why. I had already installed a new hydrostatic pump at a thousand dollars each and that didn't fix it.

Anyhow all advice will be muchly appreciated.

It was a dealer problem. The dealer shut our local outlet down. My skid steer loader is now in the hands of actual mechanics who actually know what they are doing. I can talk to these guys and they give me answers that make sense. The manager of the dealership sent me a loaner and has agreed to fix my LS-190's hydraulics as well as fix the poorly designed axle retaining system.

Man! What a relief. It's like waking up from a bad dream.

Thanks for the info and advice.
