john deere 310b neutral start switch

looking for information on john deere 310b neutral start switch. I believe this is the issue because i have power coming out of the push to start button
and i can start my backhoe with a screwdriver on on starter but not with button. I would guess it is under the console hooked up to the forward/reverse
lever? but would like to know before I take it apart. if its not fixable I will just wire up the button direct to starter, safer than starting it from
the side with screwdriver certainly.

310-B backhoe has a top cover mounted safety switch. . Pull up both side floor boards and look for a 2 wire flat terminal connection. The switch is pointed straight up and is shim adjustable. See if you have power to the switch , then see if power out as well. If no power out, unscrew the switch and remove a shim to see if just worn and out of adjustment. If it still doesn't work, replace the switch with OEM and shim determining tool. It will measure the shim pack needed for proper operation.
