looking at small excavators

i've come across the terms center boom swing configuration and short radius swing while looking at a kobelco excavator. can someone explain the differences? thanks.

A standard center mount does not swing from side to side without the cab, a swivel mounted boom will and is useful for digging alongside walls and the like, a short swing means that the counter weight is inside the print of the tracks, unless you need that configuration the standard machine is better and easier to maintain with less wearing parts.

thats about how i had it figured. with the price of fuel right now, i'm just looking at the ones that seem promising. a lot of people use
different term describing their machines. i'll use your definition in future conversations. it's hard to find a 18 - 20k machine without the
swivel mount. thanks aj
