Hough H65C IH D-407 starter issue

My loader is having starter issues replaced the solinoid and it turned over great for a bit (turn over a bit cold start 10 degrees out ) got to puff a few times between each pause of running starter . Battery started drawing down so put on charger and plugged in block heater and charged battery to full tried to turn over and just click . Any troubleshooting ideas? There is 13 volts down at starter . And batterys have full water .

In your other post you said you knew it had starter problems when you bought it.

Have you cleaned all the battery cable connections, both ends? A battery cable/terminal can be bad internally. What is the voltage on the battery terminal of the solenoid when cranking? Poor contact in the starter button can cause the solenoid to just click if they don't carry enough current through them to energize the solenoid. A bad neutral switch, if equipped with one, can cause the same symptom. Be sure it is in neutral and try using a jumper wire to power the solenoid, to bypass the ignition switch start circuit and neutral switch. It could be your starter needs to be overhauled.

More then likely he is hung in the ring gear , loosen the three bolts holding the starter in and wiggle the bolt it back in . Your ring gear or the bendix has burrs and ya may wan to try putting a file to it and do a little dressing , i run into this on the farm tractors at times . Ya may solve the problem then again ya may end up pulling the engine and replacing the rig gear .

just a thought, had starter issues with a JD crawler, when the main battery cable to starter smoked and was replaced, all the starter issues disappeared. Discovered lots of worn grounding problems in old cable.
