Cat Grouser Pads

I picked up 75 of these grouser pads years ago and have been sitting in a pile. They appear to be unused. I don't think they were ever put
on and show no wear. They say Caterpillar on the front side. On the back there is a number 3 B 2778. I measure the 4 inside bolt holes as 11
1/4 in. wide and 2 3/8 in. apart. I am wondering if these are a standard size that will fit on many crawlers or if they were meant for only
certain caterpillar crawlers. I assume they have some value other than for salvage iron. Any information would be appreciated!

They're specific to a certain model or possibly more, those are worth way more than scrap value to a collector or restorer.
They'll usually only fit a certain track chain. Hard to say 100% but more than likely you can't get these even in aftermarket like Berco or similar. I'd get those off the ground and onto a pallet or 2, shame for them to be in the dirt if you can avoid it.

My info says 3B2778 fits D4 (only). 16 wide, for 6.75 pitch rails with 1/2 mounting holes. Kind of rare now as later units have larger mounting holes.

These pads are very valuable to the right buyer, it may just take a while for the right person to meet up with the opportunity. I would possibly be in the market for buying some pads like that but distance/location is of vital importance especially with heavy items like that. Check on the price of new ones, even if you ask a 1/4 or a 1/3 of the new price or ask what you think is fair for the pallet full. Somebody out there is looking for exactly what you have!
