Hello I have a chance to buy a Drott 50 I don't know much about them , the tracks are poor
and I was going to use it to clean ditches and take out trees in and along a ditch , is it
a 50000 lb machine ?? how old are they , the serial no plate is gone, I was reading some
where that they have leveling cylinders this one dose not. a few small oil leaks ,engine
runs good what are they worth ?? Thanks Bryan

My ex father in law has a dirt/excavating company,, his dad started it in the 50's,, they bought a model 50 new, I am not sure the total hours it had when they finally traded it but it was over 25,000 hrs on it I know, they Loved that machine, and really wanted to buy another one when they traded but of course they were not making that same model 20 plus years later,, sorry thats all I know about them other than the praise they gave on it

50s were around in the late 60s and early 70s . I bet he is not finding the leveling cylinder. That was a big selling point. Short cylinder between the house and the lower frame. Most had Detroit engines and were good old machines. Weak point is the 4 gear dana final tend to strip the splines between the drive shaft and the final sprocket. Parts are getting scarce , guess if it runs might be worth just a little more than scrap prices in your area.

model 50D made 1978 -1983
50E made 1981-1983
50EC made 1969-1976 this was the series that used the GM power plant, all others use the Case 504 power,, the one I was talking about was in the late 70's very early 80's
