Allis HD 4 diesel fuel problems

I have an Allis hd 4 thats been setting a couple years. Had the fuel pump rebuilt (and back running well) before parking it due to hydraulic and electrical issues. Have the hydraulic and electrical fixed. I just put a new hand primer on it, but cant seem to get fuel past the injection pump. I have solid stream/ no air bubbles to the pump, but when I crack injection line I cant get any fuel to come through. Ive tried loosening injection line at the pump and at the injector. I use hand primer until it gets pressure, then hold for a little bit, then gets easy again. still cant get fuel out. What am I missing?

I'd make sure the pump is actually turning first. It has a driveshaft designed to snap in half if the pump turns too hard.

If you are sure it IS turning, and getting fuel, I'd pop off the top cover and make sure the metering valve is not stuck. Valve sits up high and is the first part of the pump to dry out if it sat a long time.

Technically, the injection-pump is self priming. Hand primer is good for filling filters after a change.

I got it going. we cracked injector line at the injector and used hand primer while we cranked the engine. popped right off, engine ran smooth. really surprised after sitting so long.
