T340 tracks

I have a little T340 that the pins and bushings are worn to a
point that all the adjustment is gone and almost every time I
use it I throw a track. I would like to get a few more hours out
of it to finish a some work in the Farm. Is it possible to take a
link out or raise the top idler to take up some slack? It?s not
worth spending a lot of money on.

you can remove a link but it sounds like your tracks are on the last leg.i removed a link on a MF-300 its a lot of work and then the pin is a pain .MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE THE MASTER PIN or the track will come apart

I've seen top roller & front idler welded to get a little more use. Have to bend steel piece around the roller or idler or both to get the original shape.

I have rebuilt rollers and idlers by just running multiple beads around them to build them up to original diameters

It would be fairly easy to raise the top roller on this machine. It?s just mounted to a piece of verticle 4? channel iron. Would taking up some slack this way help? Thanks

sure raising the carrier roller up will defiantly take out some slack--as long as the vertical flanges are decent on it the track should stay on it

It's common practice to remove a link from the track on all tracked equipment including excavators to squeeze the last hour out of them, removing a link is best because when the new track comes you will not have to change anything back.
