Fiat Allis FD 14E Dozer

I have a 1992 Fiat Allis FD 14E dozer. I am trying to replace the seals on the track adjuster but am having a problem getting the push rod out of the adjusting piston. I've pumped grease into the adjuster until the push rod is stuck under the track roller support. I didn't think the push rod was that long. Anyone have any other ideas on how to get the push rod out of the adjusting piston? Thanks.

This might help - it is long so takes a while to load

Around page 496 on the .pdf

Ian,

Thanks for the link. I actually have that PDF. I'm having a problem trying to get the push rod to come out. I don't know iif it is stuck to the piston

It's been a while, but I did that job on my FD5. I had the tracks off at the time. I don't recall any challenge. You're trying to do it without breaking the track?

Should come out then. I've done our FA 10 which is somewhat different as it looks like you might be able to get the piston out without removing the cylinder/recoil assembly.

That is a pain in several places on our 10, particularly when the big bolt through the spring breaks and you can't wind it down for clearance to remove. That one went to that well known straightening firm Toyota and Tree - on a LONG chain

Unfortunately, no luck. I am afraid I might have to pull the coil assembly. Looks like a long chain from here!
