I have one with a rear mounted hyd unit that stops when you pop the clutch, how hard would it be to find a front mount engine drive setup and
what would it cost. My rear pump leaks oil into the differential anyone know what might be causing the seal keep leaking my dad changed it
several times and would still leak I was never there so I don' t know if something is damaged or not had anyone worked on one of rear pumps
 
you would have to contact dismantling yards to find an old front mount pump unit made by Cat---should be a quite a few of old D4's around.
 
Best bet would be a groove worn in the shaft that keeps the seal from doing its job.
Some epoxy and a Speedi Sleeve might fix that.
 
Yea Cat made an engine driven hydraulic pump that fits the 7U. Mine says on the tag D4 7U 18. Antique Cat Club may be able to find answers and parts.

D47U with front pump assembly and protective grill. If i remember correctly it is called a 44 hydraulic system
